The Curved Paper Sales Center is a testament to Kris Lin's ingenuity and creativity. The design was inspired by the idea of a box in glass, and the concept of curving paper. The designer transformed the surface of paper into a curved one, using this design element to create different functional areas within the interior space. This innovative approach highlighted the concept of interior building, setting the Curved Paper Sales Center apart from traditional designs.
What makes this design unique is the absence of walls. Instead, boxes and tunnels are used for space boundary and function division. This innovative approach breaks away from the conventional use of walls to separate spaces. The design uses the concept of a box as the space boundary, creating a unique and engaging interior environment.
The Curved Paper Sales Center was realized using simple materials such as steel structure, plaster board, and timber finish. The curved surface was mainly made with timber finish, while artificial stone was used to establish an elevation curving surface in the reception area. Despite the simplicity of the materials used, the final result is a stunning and sophisticated space.
The project, which spans 600 square meters, was completed in Shanghai, China, in 2018. The design process involved extensive 3D modeling to achieve a 1:1 simulation space. The construction and fabrication on site were conducted based on the final design scripts of the 3D modeling, ensuring that the final site construction was identical to the 3D renderings.
One of the major challenges faced during the design process was realizing a curving paper, especially at angles of 90 degrees. This was a significant challenge in construction and installation. However, through innovative problem-solving and the use of artificial stone, the design team was able to create a beautiful curving surface in the reception area.
The Curved Paper Sales Center has been recognized for its innovative design and has been awarded the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The Curved Paper Sales Center is indeed a design masterpiece that showcases a remarkable level of excellence and introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
